RAWALPINDI: The government has transferred Rana Nisar Ahmed Khan, Judge Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) No-III, Rawalpindi here on Saturday.
Earlier at 12:45 pm the judge had issued permanent arrest warrant for former president Gen (R) Pervez Musharraf and ordered FIA to provide complete record of his moveable and immoveable property for confiscation on the next date of hearing.
The judge got his transfer orders the same day at around 4:00 pm. He has been transferred to Shakar Garh. He was conducting the trial of Benazir Bhutto murder case. Rana Nisar Ahmed Khan was appointed judge of Anti-Terrorist Court No-III, Rawalpindi on November 1, 2010.
He took some bold decisions in the BB murder case. First of all, he issued arrest warrants for former City Police Officer (CPO) Saud Aziz and former SP Rawal Town Khurram Shahzad. When FIA nominated Musharraf as accused in the BB murder case, he issued non-bailable arrest warrants for the former president and ordered law enforcement agencies to arrest him soon. When FIA did not implement the arrest warrants against Musharraf, the judge demanded complete report of it. After getting complete report from the FIA the judge declared Musharraf a proclaimed offender and ordered publication of advertisement to that effect in three national newspapers. On Saturday, FIA presented report of publishing advertisement in three newspapers and the judge issued permanent arrest warrant for Pervez Musharraf and ordered that complete particulars of all his moveable and immoveable properties be presented. He also ordered to arrest Musharraf whenever he was seen anywhere. The judge did not miss any hearing in BB murder case, which was regularly heard in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi.
His sudden transfer came as a surprise to many but no one could tell the reason behind the decision.
