Afghan govt worker killed
KANDAHAR: An 18-year-old woman working for the Afghan government was killed in Kandahar on Tuesday, hours after suicide bombers targeted a nearby Nato fuel depot, killing four security guards. Rabia Sadat, who worked on rural development, was shot dead as she left home in the southern city of Kandahar to go to work at around 8:00 am, provincial spokesman Zalmai Ayoubi said.

LANDIKOTAL: The Khyber Agency Administration Tuesday halted Nato supplies in the wake of growing attacks on Afghanistan-bound oil tankers and containers on the Pak-Afghan highway, official sources said. Sources said fearing more attacks on Nato supply trucks and oil tankers, the Khyber Agency Administration and security forces temporarily suspended transportation through the Khyber Pass Road to the Torkham border. Thus, scores of loaded trucks and oil tankers were returned from the Karkhano market police check-post to Peshawar, sources said. “We have received credible information that militants would target Nato containers,” an official, pleading anonymity, told The News.
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) Chief Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan Tuesday observed that the court would waste no time in taking action against the operating officers of the law-enforcing agencies if missing persons were found in their custody after their denial on affidavits. ìAll operating officers of the law-enforcing agencies shall clearly understand the constitution and law of the land that if these assertions made on affidavit are found false and the detainees were found in their custody, then they will have to face criminal prosecution,î the chief justice observed in a missing person case.
