More than 200,000 Syrian protesters have emerged from mosques in the central city of Homs, activists say.
The protesters are stepping up pressure for speedier Arab League action to halt a regime crackdown on dissent.
The "demonstrators came out in several neighbourhoods of the city after Friday prayers," the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said in a statement received in Nicosia on Friday.

Organisers had called for a massive turnout after the main weekly Muslim prayers at noon, setting the slogan for the protests as: "The Arab League is killing us - enough deadlines."
