10 Reasons Employers Should Pay For Lunches
As an employee, you have certain expectations based on the job you work, and many times you will find that employers don’t do everything that they definitely should. When it comes to lunch time, there are several different issues surrounding the time of day for workers, especially as most employers decide that lunch should be the employee’s responsibility. Although that is true in many cases, there are some cases in which an employer should foot the lunch bill. Why? Well, here are 10 reasons employers should pay for lunches that are just logical and completely reasonable, and on every employee’s mind. For those that are working long 8 hour days and are tired of the grind to buy or make lunch each day perhaps their employer can bring it in to boost overall morale. It becomes an issue of ethical, moral, and logical reasoning why employers should fit the lunch time fixings into the business budget.
- Employees work for the employer’s profit. When an employee is earning wages, they aren’t just working, but earning the employer a profit in the services they are providing. This means that they are actually providing an essential service to these employers, which otherwise would be left undone. So it is only fair that lunch is included in wages.
- Long hours can generate great hunger. Sometimes, employees aren’t able to afford to buy lunch each day with school, kids, and other expenses that drain their finances. For this reason, lunch should definitely be provided for employees that are putting in full-time hours to ensure high productivity.
- Promoting productivity. Productivity is best heightened through keeping the employees in the best position to work. When it comes to buying food and leaving the work site to get lunch, productivity can definitely suffer, especially as employees feel as if they are unappreciated.
- Health issues. There are several employees these days that can have health issues, but wages aren’t always enough to afford a great and nutritious lunch each day. If employers were to buy lunch for employees, they would be better able to function through the day without health issues getting complicated through not eating, eating unhealthy, or even having to rush and eat leading to an inadequate diet.
- CEO’s eat well. When you see a CEO, he is never too thin and always seems to be donned in the best, driving the best, and eating the best. They certainly can afford to buy their employees some grub each day to keep them working towards the ultimate goal.
- Save employees money. While companies try so hard to match offers to save consumers money, they should also strive to save those who work for them some well-deserved money, especially since they are paying the wages. It is only right that savings are extended to those who are loyal to the business in the best way.
- Inexpensive for large orders. There are so many food vendors that reduce the costs for large quantities of food, many times with caterers and restaurants also reducing prices for larger orders. With the savings that businesses can receive and the great savings that can be presented to the employees, employers should definitely show some love.
- Keep employees satisfied. Employees are the power of a company, and if they aren’t satisfied, the business won’t be either. Getting the employees to satisfaction includes taking higher steps in improving quality of work, which means that lunch should definitely be paid for.
- Reducing pollution. Everything these days is geared towards a greener earth and much less pollution. Well, employers could do a great deal by helping employees stay at work during lunch, even paying for the employee lunches so they don’t have to.
- Paying more for their hard work. When employees come to work each day, they are working hard to ensure that the company is meeting its quotas and reaching goals. Why not pay for the employees’ lunch in order to ensure that they are getting the most for their hard work each day.
