PESHAWAR: A bomb ripped through a school bus in the city on Monday killing a 13-year-old boy and injuring five others, including two students and bus driver, police said.

Peshawar DCO Siraj Ahmed Khan confirmed the death of a boy in the roadside bomb blast that hit Sir Syed Islamic Model School’s bus on Charkhana Road in the Bhana Mari police precincts.

SSP (Operations) Ejaz Khan told Daily Times that the bus was hit in the Bhana Mari area, in which one boy was killed and five others injured.

Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) officials said terrorists used six kilogrammes of explosives in the blast.

Rescue 1122 spokesman said a boy, said to be a mechanic, was killed while the injured were Gul Faraz, Noman, driver Gohar Ali and students Arsalan and Emaan.

Police arrested two suspects from the crime scene and shifted them to an undisclosed location. Peshawar CCPO Liaquat Ali Khan said the bomb might have missed its intended target.

It may be noted the CCPO, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa senior minister and TV channels had confirmed the death of the bus driver, who had suffered injuries in the blast and discharged from the Lady Reading Hospital after provision of First Aid. Senior Minister Bashir Bilour visited the blast site and strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a school bus.
