Police: Bomb kills 20 at funeral in NW Pakistan

PESHAWAR, Pakistan (AP) — Pakistani police say the death toll in a bomb blast at a funeral attended by anti-Taliban militiamen in the country's northwest has now risen to 20.
Police officer Zahid Khan says Wednesday's blast near the city of Peshawar also wounded more than 50 people.
Local police chief Ghaffar Khan says the funeral was for the wife of an anti-Taliban militiamen in the Matani area.
Like in other parts of the northwest, Matani is home to several tribal armies that fight against the Taliban and get some government support.
The militants have often targeted the militiamen.

The blast Wednesday took place close to the city of Peshawar.
Local police chief Ghaffar Khan says the funeral was for the wife of an anti-Taliban militiamen in the Matani area.
Like in other parts of the northwest, Matani is home to several tribal armies that fight against the Taliban and get some government support.
The militants have often targeted the militiamen.
