Dalit girls enter Orissa temple, whole village is punished

Outside a temple for the Goddess Kali -an icon of empowerment and Shakti -a sign asks Dalits to stop. This is the closest point from where they can offer their prayers. The boundary was created after three school girls entered the temple to offer "prasad." Now, their whole village is being punished- upper caste farmers are refusing to hire them to help cultivate their fields.
