A furious mother says her son was humiliated at school when a teacher pinned his progress report to his shirt.

The school, WJ Bryan Elementary in North Miami, Florida, just wanted to make sure the note made its way home, but Joshua Innocent says it made him a laughing stock.
'At the time I got into the classroom, the kids started laughing at me,' said seven-year-old Joshua.

The child's mother is accusing the school of having very poor communication skills.
'She could have called me,' said Rose Innocent. 'We have our number in the school system.
'She could have called me, she could have called my husband, to say, "OK, well, your son has been misbehaving in school, talk to him when he gets home," but not humiliate him.'

The incident happened last week. Mrs Innocent said: "It was on his shirt saying that his behaviour was poor, he wasn't doing his work, the quality of the work was poor.'

Joshua added: 'She got me in the office to get a stapler, to staple the note on my shirt.'
The Miami-Dade School District said that the mother actually asked the school to send progress reports home with her child, but the reports were not making it home.
That was why the teacher stapled the report to the child's clothing.
The district released a statement explaining that the teacher did take steps to hide the note from other students.

'To make sure that the note reached home, the teacher fastened the note to the child's shirt then placed the child's sweatshirt over it, so that the note would not cause any undue attention," said John Schuster, Miami-Dade Schools spokesperson.

Mrs Innocent said other students clearly saw the progress report, leaving her son traumatized.

'I don't even want to get one step in the classroom when I go to the school,' Joshua added.
Other parents believe there may have been a better way to handle this.
'What about stapling it to the outside of the backpack?" suggested one parent outside the school.

The district said the principal has talked to the teacher about other ways to handle this situation.
