A youth was shot dead by unidentified militants in Shopian district of south Kashmir, officials said on Wednesday. The militants barged into the house of Manzoor Ahmad Dar at Vishru village in Keller area of Shopian district, 65 kms from Srinagar, at around 11.00 pm last night, the officials said.
They said the ultras opened indiscrimite firing on Dar before fleeing from the spot. The 25 year old youth was rushed to the local hospital by his relatives and neighbours but succumbed on the way, they said.
This was the second killing by militants in the Dar family as Abdul Jabbar, father of the slain youth, was shot dead in similar circumstances in the early days of militancy. The ultras had also made an attempt on the life of Farooq Ahmad Dar, Manzoor's brother few years ago, but he survived the attack.
He migrated to some other place soon after the attack, officials said.
